\nThe design is based on the ‘Senju-Kannon Bosatsu’ of Sanjusangendo-Temple in Kyoto. Thousand-Armed Kannon is a Bodhisattva with mercy and vast power, who has various tools in a thousand hands and can save any human being without leaking. The kanji is “Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes Kannon Bosatsu”. It is another name for Senju-Kannon Bodhisattva, who is said to have one eye on each of his thousand hands. \nThe statue of Senju-Kannon Bosatsu at Sanjusangendo-Temple in Kyoto is one of the most famous and popular Buddhist statues in Japan. The Thousand-Armed Kannon is a bodhisattva with immense power, and due to its boundless merit and compassion, it is also called “Great Compassionate Kannon” or “Lotus King”, meaning the king of Kannon.

\nThe Thousand-Armed Kannon is often depicted with eleven faces and forty-two arms. This stems from the concept that each of the forty hands – excluding the two central hands held in prayer – saves all living beings across the twenty-five realms of existence recognized in Buddhism, by multiplying forty by twenty-five, the total comes to one thousand.\u3000This is an absolutely extraordinary Bodhisattva who bestows a wide range of worldly benefits – from warding off misfortune and prolonging life to healing illnesses.<\/p>\n
